FORENSIC CHEMISTRY
Description:
The aim of the SLP is to provide those who are conducting forensic investigations but do not have a background in Chemistry with the tools needed to enable them to perform their tasks more proficiently. It also serves to equip final-year Chemistry students who have an interest in working as Forensic Chemists with the skills needed.
Admission Requirements:
Matric certificate.
Physical Science will be an added benefit.
Curriculum:
Unit 1: Introduction to Forensic Chemistry
Unit 2: Atomic Structure
Unit 3: Organic Chemistry-Narcotics and Drugs
Unit 4: Forensic Language and Documentation
Unit 5: Chemical Screening
Unit 6: Chemical Techniques
Unit 7: Clandestine Laboratory Operations
