About Course

Description:

This short-learning programme (SLP) provides a standardised, patient-centred, evidence-influenced approach to the evaluation and chiropractic management of paediatric patients. Additionally, the SLP prepares the chiropractors to perceive situations in which referral would be necessary and how to co-manage paediatric patients alongside the relevant health care providers when the need arises.

Admission Requirements:

You must be a registered Chiropractor with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (or equivalent country registration authority).

You must be a student registered in the MHSc Chiropractic programme (NQF9).

Applicants must have access to a personal computer and reliable internet access.

Course Curriculum

The purpose of this SLP is:

  • To familiarise you with the unique anatomy, physiology and red flags associated with paediatric patients.
  • To equip you with the basic necessary knowledge and skills to be able to assess, refer out or treat the paediatric patient with confidence and evidence-informed protocols.

On completion of this SLP, the student will be able to:
• Understand the unique anatomy and physiology of paediatric patients.
• Describe the evidence regarding safety and efficacy of this type of care.
• Perform basic examination, diagnoses and treatment of paediatric musculoskeletal conditions.
